My own experience is that there's not a lot in it. Except perhaps money ? We have a simple ISDN page which is for people who don't know much about ISDN and Linux with BT but not cable...... http://www.sheflug.co.uk/isdn.htm probably not much help but you might get something from it ? Thanks -- Richard

I found the cheap BT speedway(?) card absolutely fine (last time I set one up was about a year ago). On Wed, 6 Dec 2000, Gary Stainburn wrote:

wrote regarding [suse-linux-uk-schools] Physical Router or ISDN card?: In real terms, there's nothing in it. At most, your ISDN connection will be 128K. Even a small/medium PC with an average load could happily keep that full all day.
Sometimes, an ISDN route makes config easier, as some of them present themselves as normal modems, and thus are supported better, while others, such as the Cisco 16xx series present a normal network interface.

hi all this could be my last posting to this list..... ....as i have resigned from Becta and will taking up the post of Education Sector Director for Red Hat in the New Year (indeed at BETT). this will allow me to do more (alongside people like Roger) in the promotion of Linux and Open Source in the education arena, without being accused of bias and trying to skew the market ? hopefully i can stay in touch with everyone and would be keen to hear what you think Red Hat should be doing for schools (and other educational organisations) up the revolution :-) Malcolm --------------------------------------- Dr Malcolm Herbert Head of Technology R&D Becta, Science Park, Coventry CV4 7JJ Tel: 02476 847126 Fax: 02476 847120 Mobile: 07801 612438 -------------------------------------- "To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer" Farmers Weekly, 1977
Congratulations Malcom, I look forward to hearing from you at Red Hat (sorry Roger) and of course on the SuSE List! Alan Malcolm Herbert wrote:
