You'll be surprised, Joanna. Thet may well sponser you if they think it viable in some way. I wonder if "stools" is a freudian slip.... Tony

help?!? lol
Had you considered joining SchoolforgeUK? I think we are better to
tackle these things together in one consolidated effort rather than
fragment into a lot of small projects at least until we have sufficient
resources.

There are a couple of possibilities for BETT: 1) OpenAdvantage are considering promoting OpenSource in some way at the show - watch this space... 2) Schoolforge UK are currenytly looking at forming a consortium of FLOSS suppliers into schools - this would enable small providers to share such costs - and also provide a more resilient service to schools. Please have a look at: http://www.schoolforge.org.uk/pn/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=HardwareCertification and then join Schoolforge, put your comments and help us build a viable way forward on this one. ===== rgds, Richard Rothwell -------------------------------------------------------------------- rind (n) acronym for 'rind is not defined' ____________________________________________________________ Yahoo! I think Richard Rothwell, Chair of SchoolforgeUK is talking to
OpenAdvantage about the possibilites of BETT. I'm thinking of taking the
INGOTs there now its beginning to get some revenue so maybe some sort of
joint stand would not be a bad idea?

Paul and I would be really interested in taking our
project, to the Bett show.
SuSe Mailing list but hey;
Its a point and click setup installation for secondary
schools. Basically some very nice glossy documentation
takes you though a Mandrake 10 installation, and then you
use our setup up disk to create the following:
Primary Domain server, File servers, Print server, Proxy
server, Intranet server, firewall and a few more.
Everything is point and click for setup and you don't have
to go into the console or edit and files or anything that
may seem scary.
We are trying to use it as a first step, as it uses samba
to connect M$ 2000/XP and also includes all the files to
setup profiles and login scripts for those clients as
well.
The mailing list is here:
http://www.linuxgfx.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/project_linuxgfx.co.uk
I have had a good response of around 6 schools, 2
definents. Anyone is welcome to see our visitor school in
Lenham Kent which is using the system at this very moment.
Have resisted posting this till now as we have only be
working on it a week and a half!!! and theres only two of
us!
On testing a noob can setup the system with no help
(depending on ICT skills) between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Pauls set it up in 20 minutes but hey, that doesn't count.

Ian et al If a joint stand can be negotiated it would be ideal in that people wanting information about OpenSource and Linux could get it all from the same stand - and it would save us a lot of money !
