Hi, I've tried to find packaging policies for Contrib but haven't found a detailed description. Anyway when I moved packages to Contrib I found that the reviews were pretty strict and detailed. I've tried to find more information on that topic since I found that some packages do not even include a *.changes file but have only a changelog in the spec file. Personally I consider the *.changes file as pretty important and mandatory. What do you think? At this time *.changes file is not mandatory by any rule that applies for Contrib. Other packaging policy for packages in contrib are the same as is specified in SUSE Package Convention (see openSUSE wiki for this document) And I personally think that we should make *.changes mandatory for packages in contrib (even though my packages do not have *.changes file :-) )

Concerning Contrib packaging policies, it would be IMHO great if the review process were more deterministic: I mean some kind of checklist with steps that the reviewer has to do/check and based on that either accept or decline the package. It's definitely not an easy task to do, but I think it might be worth to give it a try - what do you guys think? -- Best regards / s pozdravem Petr Uzel, Packages maintainer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: puzel@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 964 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-contrib+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-contrib+help@opensuse.org
