NonFree repository for Contrib
Hi all, I'd like to ask why we have a NonFree repository in Contrib project conf? Do we really need it? If yes, then which packages needs this and in opposite case I recommend to turn this off by default. Aren't Java SDK packages in NonFree repo only? I understand that we ship OpenJDK now so it might have moved to Standard, but I have no clue. Would you enlighten us with the current situation? -- Best Regards / S pozdravom, Pavol RUSNAK SUSE LINUX, s.r.o Package Maintainer Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xA6917144 19000 Praha 9, CR prusnak[at]suse.cz http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-contrib+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-contrib+help@opensuse.org

Yes, you're right. The Sun SDK is in NonFree, but it's no reason to use it. In openSUSE is a default Java compiler openjdk (based on Sun's source code released under GPL) and majority of Java packages use it (some packages uses a gcc-java, but it's a different story). As I see, there's just dbxml, which needs a Java compiler and it uses an openjdk (the symbol java-devel is expanded to openjdk), so I think we don't need a NonFree enabled by default. True. The following home projects need to switch to NonNonFree (8-) first. home:michal-m:contrib/openSUSE_Factory home:jimfunk:Contrib/Factory_Contrib home:michal-m/openSUSE_Factory home:-miska-:Contrib/openSUSE_Factory home:mvyskocil:Contrib/openSUSE_Factory Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE. No one from listed home projects use a NonFree, but have a Contrib in path. Is it wrong? <repository name="openSUSE_Factory"> <path project="openSUSE:Factory:Contrib" repository="standard"/> MV -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-contrib+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-contrib+help@opensuse.org
