[opensuse-buildservice] KDE:/Backports/SUSE_Linux_9.3: some problems
Hi *, I just subscribed this list in order to ease complaining ;-) First a general question: why don't the buildservice packages carry a packager? Well, yes, they're build by some scripts, but someone triggers that, e.g. by modifying the spec file. That one would be the one to put in. Is this unwanted for some reason or simply not yet tackled? I've started using KDE:/Backports/SUSE_Linux_9.3 and found these problems: 1) Missing Dependency: libqscintilla.so.5 is needed by package kdebindings3-python This is due to a missing current build of kdebindings3-python in this repo. 2) file /usr/bin/callgrind_annotate from install of valgrind-3.2.0-11.2 conflicts with file from package kdesdk3-profile-3.4.0-7 file /usr/bin/callgrind_control from install of valgrind-3.2.0-11.2 conflicts with file from package kdesdk3-profile-3.4.0-7 file /usr/include/valgrind/callgrind.h from install of valgrind-3.2.0-11.2 conflicts with file from package kdesdk3-devel-3.4.0-7 Well, this is easily solvable manually by deleting the local kdesdk3-{profile,devel} packages, but at least a Conflicts: and probably a Obsoletes: entry in valgrind.spec would be much more convenient, don't they? Kept the problematic packages excluded from the update for now in order to being able to test possible fixes in the next days.. Yes, I'm looking quite backward with using SuSE 9.3, but having to admin/develop for some companies using this version on their (diskless) KDE desktops, I'm forced to being conservative on changes - never the less aiming to move on to KDE:/KDE3 aka 3.5.3 soon. I wouldn't object an buildservice account to fix some of those problems myself and moving some of my local packages into the public.. ;-) Cheers, Pete --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice-help@opensuse.org

Who would be the packager if _I_ submitted a package and _you_ did a change to it?
2) file /usr/bin/callgrind_annotate from install of valgrind-3.2.0-11.2 conflicts with file from package kdesdk3-profile-3.4.0-7 file /usr/bin/callgrind_control from install of valgrind-3.2.0-11.2 conflicts with file from package kdesdk3-profile-3.4.0-7 file /usr/include/valgrind/callgrind.h from install of valgrind-3.2.0-11.2 conflicts with file from package kdesdk3-devel-3.4.0-7

That would be wrong. valgrind does neither conflict with nor obsolete kdesdk3-profile. It is just that the files you mentioned moved from kdesdk3-profile to valgrind thus you should just upgrade both packages. Both? Kidding - I've no good idea. That's why Adrian omited it in the first place, I guess..

At least on ftp://ftp4.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/KDE:/Backports/SUSE_Linux_9.3/ there's no such package. Sure, I could adjust the originally distributed one by removing valgrind in there, but that defeats the purpose of this repo, or do I miss something fundamentally here? No, it's just not implemented yet. It's supposed to be in the project configuration, you can define any macro you like there, so it's easy to add a "%packager" macro. Thanks, they were fixed by omitting the conflicting packages.. But now, another problem emerged: #~> yum update [...] ============================================================================= Package Arch Version Repository Size ============================================================================= Installing: kopete i586 0.12.0-7.3 kde-backports 7.9 M replacing kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger.i586 3.4.0-16.4 [...] Running Transaction Installing: kopete ######################### [1/4] Removing : kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger ######################### [3/4] Installed: kopete.i586 0:0.12.0-7.3 Replaced: kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger.i586 0:3.4.0-16.4 Complete! #~> yum update [...] ============================================================================= Package Arch Version Repository Size ============================================================================= Installing: kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger i586 3.4.0-16.4 update 4.0 M replacing kopete.i586 0.12.0-7.3 A package update loop. Funny, isn't it? Temporarily solved by globally excluding kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger. Adrian, let me know, when you think, this is fixed.
