[...] In my personal view it is pretty retractable that someone would like to be informed when a system is crashed and so not to waste time and mental power to search for a cause in other areas. And anyone with basic knowledge in politics and skills in empathy should be able to retrace that Marguerite will not feel very happy while she is considering a cause like she has described.

yep, it was true. it made me feel like developer said won't fix when you submit a obvious, reasonable, user-friendly fix patch. no one can make crash manageable if you're acting good instead of acting as a network cutter like national firewall in CN, IRAN and North Korea. but it's understandable even if adrian meant to say that. because SuSE has been M&A too much, its internal network is so complicated that may make adrian really feel crazy last night...(its China Office had been out of network for nearly a month before...same internal server error. It would still be very nice to be notified in case of such (planned or unplanned) outages that    a) there is an outage ("dear thousands of users, it is not your fault, stop debugging, and..."),    b) it is estimated to be resolved by <day> (<hour>).("...please work on something else until...")

In my case (I was working with OBS when the outage happened), seeing the "network unreachable", "503" and time outs gave me that exact message without need for an announcement.
