[opensuse-buildservice] openSUSE:Tools* for ppc targets
Hi, would you mind that we activate the compilation of the OBS itself (openSUSE:Tools*) for ppc targets, so the ppc users can grab it there without problem? How far have you come with putting the ppc binaries of the wished distros into build repos? Kind regards, Martin --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

How far have you come with putting the ppc binaries of the wished distros into build repos? This would be great. Then I would not need to build the BS locally, before I can install it :-) BTW: are those little PPC fixes now included in the 'official' BS sources? Bye, CzP

Martin Mohring írta: sources? Apart from not beeing selectable in the Webclient "Add Repository" > "Architecture" switchbox, ppc is fully funtioning and the build packages of obs-server work fully on ppc (I test all of the OBS Snapshots inside openSUSE:Tools:{Unstable,Devel}/{obs-server-svn,obs-server-test} also with ppc targets, I have ppc workers here). Everything else for ppc is in subversion source tree.
Adrian: when do you plan to import some ppc distro packages (in status if I remember correctly it was stated something about limited ppc support)? To build against a ppc distro is dependent on that task. Should I add the ppc target inside src/webclient/app/views/project/add_target.rhtml in subversion? 11.0 has imported ppc packages already, Factory is building itself. However, no other project can build against this atm for security reasons. We need to get a secure VM working first before we can offer this for everybody.

No, please do not, it won't work right now and cause confusion. However, we can enable ppc builds of openSUSE:Tools project. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

How far have you come with putting the ppc binaries of the wished distros into build repos? Is it already available somewhere, or I still need to build it myself?
If I have to build it, which version would you recommend for PPC? http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Tools/openSUSE_11.0/ or one of openSUSE:/Tools:/Devel/ or openSUSE:/Tools:/Unstable/ ? The last two don't have a bundled ruby. Does it mean, that I can use the one bundled with openSUSE 11.0, or I need to build that too? If yes, from what sources? PowerPC support is now activated and completely checked into subversion, and even selectable via the Webclient. What is the difference between: openSUSE:Tools openSUSE:Tools:Unstable openSUSE:Tools:Devel Answer: openSUSE:Tools:Unstable contains prereleases of the OBS, whereas openSUSE:Tools:Devel are development versions for completely new version. E.g. openSUSE:Tools:Unstable is prereleased, but frozen (the lzma inside for example links to openSUSE:11.0 sources and do not change anymore). openSUSE:Tools:Devel can also link to openSUSE:Factory packages, where the new versions of needed packages are integrated, tested and are fed back to openSUSE:Factory. Both, openSUSE:Tools:Unstable and openSUSE:Tools:Devel repositories sit on top of the openSUSE:Tools project, so they use the ruby packages from openSUSE:Tools (and also the others only present in openSUSE:Tools). OK, but is it available somewhere for download? Or I need to build it myself? Hi, sorry, didn't answer this question. Yes, there are a subversion -r 4791 based packages inside openSUSE:Tools:Unstable now. Bye, Martin Peter Czanik wrote:

I don't see a ppc directory at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Tools:/Unstable/openSUSE... and powerpc.opensuse.org, which was mentioned in some earlier posts is unaccessible. Hi, building the Packages for ppc needs to be switched on. This requires the ppc binary packages for the different Linux Distro targets to be installed, which is not the case except for openSUSE:Factory at the moment. OK, so for openSUSE 11.0 the instructions are the same, as a few months back, when I had to compile all the packages myself and hack it to use PPC packages. I hope, I can still find your old e-mails about it :-) Bye, CzP

If you have a running ppc obs system already, then you can update just the obs packages, which are all .noarch except osc:
