Re: [opensuse-buildservice] Re: RHEL6 - missing gtkmm24-devel
Hi,
They are still unresolvable for me. I can build nothing except
kernel-module-packages ;)

I can only second that!
Any news on it?
I run into the same problem with our local build service instance: php-devel and libsmbclient-devel are also in optional. Seems all -devel packages are.
We can create an own local RHEL6 repo and add them, but I would of cause prefer this get's solved on build.opensuse.org ;-)
Kind regards

You need to talk the Red Hat folks into making all the missing packages available in some publically accessible repository since they aren't on the DVD.

They are not part of the official shipment of RHEL6. I am told that they are accessable via the rhn, but I am unsure if this is legal wise okay to put them on OBS from there (I doubt). So, only the current available packages are there. (I don't understand where they draw the line, because several other packages can build as well.)

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hallo, for some of the packages installed on our RHEL test boxes (I tried both x64 and i686) the last part of the version number is .el6_0.1 where it is just .el6 in the obs repo. This means, you can't even just simply put packages from the optional-repo and place them into your local replica of the b-o-o RHEL6 repository. We wanted to compile a php module and therefore placed php-devel-5.3.2-6.el6_0.1.i686.rpm from the optional repository into our local buildserver repos. However it requires php-5.3.2-6.el6_0.1.i686.rpm whereas php-5.3.2-6.el6.i686.rpm is provided during the sync from b-o-o. In the end we also had to manually add php-cli and php-common. rpm -qa shows, that on this particular test box there are 29 packages installed, which carry _0.1 in their name. Here is a list: http://pastebin.com/5t6MiFuD With kind regards, Lars Volker Am 14.02.2011 09:06, schrieb Adrian Schröter:

Hi Adrian, Am 14.02.11 09:06, schrieb Adrian Schröter: that question and/or maybe get an exception to use at least the -devel packages from RHEL 6 optional repository. Unfortunately I have no more RH contacts to ask myself. I know RHEL is not the primary focus of openSUSE build server, but supporting a wide area of distributions is really the strong point of it. The current situation is unsatisfying and fixing it only in our own local build server, as Lars described, does not help us with the packages we build for egroupware.org open source project, as the are build on build.opensuse.org:-( Kind regards Ralf

Is there a way to ask directly RedHat legal counsel?
Anyway now everything is clear. Legal issues are much difficult than
software ones.
