[opensuse-buildservice] Authorative list of allowed RPM groups?
Basically I'd like something which isn't prone to change often, as I originally got the RPM group (Applications/Multimedia) I used for a package that I'm trying to submit to Factory from http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Package_group_guidelines, but it seems the group was since removed. Are there any "safe bets" from the general graphics category which are less likely to change? (rpmlint returns a different list of possible RPM group names, are those more reliable)? -- Florian Höch -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org

Do not use an RPM group, they are deprecated and will hopefully get automatically removed at some point... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org
Thanks, that's good to know. I think this should be mentioned on the http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Package_group_guidelines page? I've taken the liberty to insert a warning at the top. Am 18.06.2012 20:46, schrieb Cristian Rodríguez:

Sigh, as it turns out, having a group is required for Mandriva 2011: "error: Group field must be present in package: (main package)" For others it seems to work without though. Am 18.06.2012 21:31, schrieb Florian Höch:

...and for openSUSE based builds, rpmlint now complains about the missing group. The package builds OK, but as the rpmlint warning prevents the package from being accepted in Factory, I am back where I started with my original question. Am 18.06.2012 21:35, schrieb Florian Höch:

Please fill a bug report asking for the warning to be removed, we discussed this about a year ago in the openSUSE conference '11 and was agreed that RPM groups have to go away... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org
