[opensuse-buildservice] dependency problems in OBS:/Server:/2.6/SLE_12
Trying to migrate my OBS instance from SLE_11 to SLE_12. As of OBS 2.6 is the latest possible version for SLE_11 I setup a new box with SLE_12 and added: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OBS:/Server:/2.6/SLE_12 now I am running into the following problem: while trying to install 'obs-utils' I get: osc benötigt von obs-utils-2.6.9-2.2.noarch wird nirgends zur Verfügung gestellt where to get osc if not from the OBS repo? seem that osc is missing there seem to be more files missing: on my SLE_11 I have SIT obs:~ # rpm -qa | grep obs obs-productconverter-2.6.9-2.1 obs-service-download_src_package-0.2-2.1 obs-service-download_files-0.5.1.git.1455712026.9c0a4a0-4.1 obs-service-extract_file-0.1-2.1 obs-service-format_spec_file-20160202-3.1 obs-server-2.6.9-2.1 obs-worker-2.6.9-2.1 obs-service-download_url-0.1-2.1 obs-api-2.6.9-2.1 obs-service-source_validator-0.6+git20160707.a6ff89d-3.1 obs-signd-2.2.1-2.3 obs-utils-2.6.9-2.1 obs-source_service-2.6.9-2.1 where to get all these missing 'obs-service-*' files ? For SLE_11 I can find them in OBS 2.4/2.5 repo, but these do not build for SLE_12 Any help or 'repo fixes' would be wonderful. from openSUSE:Tools project OK Thank you. Do I really need these 'obs-service*' files on the server ?

hm, obs-utils is an optional package and I don't want to change much in 2.6 anymore.

You need them, if you want to support server side service runs. -- Adrian Schroeter email: adrian@suse.de SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org

hm, obs-utils is an optional package and I don't want to change much in 2.6 anymore. OK ... understandable, but same problem exist for OBS 2.7
Do I really need these 'obs-service*' files on the server ?
You need them, if you want to support server side service runs. When they are need, why are they not part of that repo ? Also same here for 2.7 Why not 'aggregate' them into OBS project ?
IMHO the 'OBS:Server' should offer all you need to run an OBS Server ... Thanks in Advance -- Christian ---------------------------------------------------- - Please do not 'CC' me on list mails. you don't need them to run it. Actually, I am more in favour just to kill the package ... -- Adrian Schroeter email: adrian@suse.de SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org

I am confused ... first you say I need them, now you say I don't. Probably I did not ask clear enough. As far as I understand now ... I only need them on 'client-side'? BTW ... ... obs-server should install the rubygem-passendger-apache2 package, which it does not. ... obs.conf (http) should point to an 'existing' dummy cert, which makes apache not to fail on start. -- Christian ---------------------------------------------------- - Please do not 'CC' me on list mails. no, you can use them on the server, but they are optional. It is just a single script atm for a specific usecase. One that is actually not even recommended.
BTW ... ... obs-server should install the rubygem-passendger-apache2 package, which it does not.
It is recommended, but no must to use passenger.
... obs.conf (http) should point to an 'existing' dummy cert, which makes apache not to fail on start.
Same here. It looks like you are looking actually for the appliance which comes with all this. But installing packages manually needs more work on purpose (because you can have various different setups). -- Adrian Schroeter email: adrian@suse.de SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner@opensuse.org

OK ... which do you use on the server ?
BTW ... ... obs-server should install the rubygem-passendger-apache2 package, which it does not.
It is recommended, but no must to use passenger.
It is used in /etc/apache2/vhosts.d/obs.conf So from my point of view it is required to work ...

Using an appliance is a nice idea, but you'll never understand how this thing works. I want to understand how things work together ... ... and IMHO there should be a 'default' (One possibility of configuration) which should work out of the box. Or do I expect too much ? If I am not happy with the 'default' config, then I can change ... afterwards. Thank you :) P.S.: BTW what happened to apache2 ? a2enmod/a2dismod is without effect ... apache2 loads a 'static' loadmodule.conf which is not updated anymore from APACHE_MODULES of/etc/sysconfig/apache2 ? Why is this wonderful feature gone ? Or is it a BUG ? -- Christian ---------------------------------------------------- - Please do not 'CC' me on list mails.
