out of memory error with gcc
Hi, I need help with debugging memory problems. My aarch64 build repeatedly fails with Fedora 37: https://build.opensuse.org/public/build/home:behrisch/Fedora_37/aarch64/sumo... with Out of memory: Killed process 13373 (cc1plus) total-vm:1819232kB, anon-rss:1195992kB, file-rss:0kB, shmem-rss:0kB, UID:399 pgtables:3484kB oom_score_adj:0 My constraints file already requests 4GB memory and even if I add up the numbers above I am below 3GB so there should still be some space available. Any ideas what is going on here? Best regards and thanks in advance, Michael

you may build in parallel so some other process is also eating memory?
A local build using
osc build --vm-type=kvm --vm-memory $(( 4 * 1024 )) --shell-after-fail ....
may help debugging (or --vm-type=qemu if you want to emulate aarch64, but that is slow)

The last successful build used almost 9GB of memory, with 6 parallel jobs. -- Andreas Schwab, schwab@linux-m68k.org GPG Key fingerprint = 7578 EB47 D4E5 4D69 2510 2552 DF73 E780 A9DA AEC1 "And now for something completely different."

Thanks a lot for the fast answers! Where do I find this information? Best regards, Michael
