[opensuse-buildservice] Add mercurial?
** Please do not create any projects outside of your home project without asking on the ml so far. thanks. ** Any objection to adding mercurial to devel:tools:scm ? Also, how do I add myself as a maintainer to server:ha-clustering ? -- Andrew Beekhof "Would the last person to leave please turn out the enlightenment?" - TISM

Any objection to adding mercurial to devel:tools:scm ?
FWIW, I currently maintain Mercurial it in my home project ( http://software.opensuse.org/download/home:/LenzGr/) But I would of course be willing to move it into the "scm" project, how would this be accomplished?
Also, how do I add myself as a maintainer to server:ha-clustering ?
Hmm, I do see an "Add Maintainer" link in the Project Overview Pages.
Don't you have that one, too?
Bye,

Thanks! Is it possible to "move" packages from one project to another?
Or do I simply add the files here once more and then delete them from my
own project?

it isn't. I do personally not like such a feature, because it can confuse users too much, when you your stuff around too often....

That is of course true. Well, I blogged about the move, just to be sure :)

yes, please
Done. However, I accidentally added a new toplevel project "mecurial" -
can some kind admin please get rid of it?
The adding of new packages to a project is a bit confusing. This is
the second time I managed to create a new toplevel project instead of
adding a package to a an existing one...
I somehow always assume that osc is smart enough to take the current
directory as the name of the project the package should be added to :)
Proposal: separate project and package maintenance in osc or add some
intelligence to let it make sane decisions. If I am located in my local
working directory "home:LenzGr" and I use "osc editmeta <foo>", it can
safely be assumed I want to add a new package to my home project, not
creating a new toplevel project...

In this regard, removing here and adding there does not make a difference, it just eats more resources, time-wise, bandwidth-wise ;) -- Karl Eichwalder R&D / Documentation SUSE Linux Products GmbH Key fingerprint = B2A3 AF2F CFC8 40B1 67EA 475A 5903 A21B 06EB 882E --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

And I think because of this Adrian hopes that less people do it. ;) Regards, Bernhard -- Wenn einer im Wahlkampf zu schimpfen hat, dann sind das die Wähler und nicht die Politiker. -- Rainer Barzel

right ;) However, I think we will need it in the long run, but maybe with manual approval by some admin or alike .... However, nothing what we want to do in the near future. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Worth to give it a try :)

I sometimes test something new in my home project and if I think it is
useful, I transfer it to some other project. In case you want to hear
the reason why I would make of some such feature.

"move" is not planned, but AFAIK "copy" is.
Nice. Once "copied" it is not that cumbersome to click on "remove", if that's what the user wants to do :-) -- Karl Eichwalder R&D / Documentation SUSE Linux Products GmbH GPG: 1024D/06EB882E B2A3 AF2F CFC8 40B1 67EA 475A 5903 A21B 06EB 882E --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

To clarify, it should be a copy&merge operation. To submit changes to an already existing package copy. This can be used to suggest changes or to submit stuff from your private playground to some more official package. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Just creating a package copy is a valid and useful operation. Yes, but we need also a merge functionality. Esp. when you want to copy/merge a linked package with changes into the original one. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org
