[Bug 471826] New: opensuseupdater: looking for updates when there are updates
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=471826 Summary: opensuseupdater: looking for updates when there are updates Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- opensuseupdater: looking for updates when there are updates On 32-bit system, when there are updates (OSU looks like a sun with rays), I click on the icon, and OSU starts scanning (internet?) very heavily to check if there are updates (nonsense, since it said just before clicking, there _are_ updates). In the same situation, on 64-bit system, OSU just simply shows the dialog informing there are N updates, I can click "details" to see the list. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

When you click a second time the tray icon it won't search for updates but simply show the updates.
I don't. I just click once on the systray when the icon becomes sunny -- on 64-bit system it shows the dialog, on the 32-bit system is searching. Once again, I see no difference between the systems or settings, the only one I can think of are: * 32-bit vs. 64-bit * PL vs. EN * screen resolution, HDD capacity The only relevant is the first difference. OSU work differently on those systems. You mentioned "second click" -- it is bug on its own, it should be double click (if anything) because if user has to memorize clicks (because there is no visual feedback for counting it) it is against any HIG you can think of. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
