[Bug 309214] New: mdadm not installed even if 0xfd partitions exist
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=309214 Summary: mdadm not installed even if 0xfd partitions exist Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: duwe@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Development I have created a big data partition as RAID-0 from the free space of two disks (no BIOS fake-RAID involved). Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 1 1946 15631213+ 83 Linux /dev/sda2 1947 2214 2152710 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda3 2215 14593 99434317+ fd Linux raid autodetect Disk /dev/sdb: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 * 1 1946 15631213+ 83 Linux /dev/sdb2 1947 2214 2152710 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sdb3 2215 14593 99434317+ fd Linux raid autodetect After installation of 10.3 Beta2 I was unable to access /dev/md0, probably because the mdadm package was not installed. According to the experts throwing in mdadm is always a good idea, but especially with partitions type 0xfd on a BIOS/DOS partition table this should be a must. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
