[Bug 308503] New: libata: HPA failure causes disk detection failure
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=308503 Summary: libata: HPA failure causes disk detection failure Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 3 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: ASSIGNED Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: teheo@novell.com ReportedBy: teheo@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- The current code fails disk detection if HPA fails. This is bad because 1. modern SATA disks are more likely to have broken HPA support 2. SUSE is unlocking HPA by default. libata should disable HPA unlocking automatically if device pukes on HPA related commands. Patches are generally acked and pending for 2.6.24 merge. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
