[Bug 246749] New: Unsuspend from RAM fails
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=246749 Summary: Unsuspend from RAM fails Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: hpj@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de On my Thinkpad T42p, I can suspend to RAM, and the little moon LED lights up and everything looks fine. When I later open the lid, the monitor backlight comes on and the DVD player spins up, but it never gets past that. The screen remains black. At this point I have no choice but to cycle power. I have a vague recollection of suspend-to-RAM (including unsuspend) working for me with this laptop model on a previous SuSE release. Might have been SLED 10 w/ updates. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I'm afraid your system is not supportable. I just realized that the unsuspend succeeds, but the framebuffer is garbled, and there is no way to work around it (ctrl-alt-f1, alt-f7 to force textmode/X switch only changes the pixel noise slightly). I don't have the time to mess with my video drivers right now - most likely I'll have to make a clean, supportable install of OpenSUSE 10.2 to verify. So I'm closing the bug and will reopen it if I can reproduce the problem on a clean install. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
