[Bug 308996] New: rescue system: dd_rhelp blocks on seeking behind eof
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=308996 Summary: rescue system: dd_rhelp blocks on seeking behind eof Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: m.munnix@redcross.be QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=162862) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=162862) /dev/sdb6.log Having multiple read errors on a disk, I decided it was time to test the rescue system. disk with errors is sda, new disk is sdb created same partitionning on new disk (LBA, same block layout), then booted the rescue system. ran the command: "dd_rhelp /dev/sda6 /dev/sdb6" this created logfile /dev/sdb6.log having run the command a first time, running it again gives following error: dd_rhelp: ^[[1;31merror:^[[0;37m bin sdb6.log sdb7.log x add_chunk : invalid argument '0-(info)' (is not correctly formatted as number:number) Seems this is consequence dd_rhelp calling dd_rescue to read after the end of the partition (even getting negative bad block address) Seems as if I could read all data from the problem disk, doing a clean run, this time outputing to a regular file. Going to check the filesystem ... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
