It turned out the root cause was the stock liborc (0.4.4) in openSUSE 11.3 is too old for the gstreamer packages I've installed from packman and the gstreamer packages didn't specify requirements for newer version (>= 0.4.5). Installing liborc 0.4.6 from packman resolved the issue for me but it would be great if the dependency is properly specified in the gstreamer packages.
