And while I am not a linux novice, I am not an expert, and there is a good chance of my not getting all the right devices mounted at the correct points and rpm working the first try; and in the same time it takes to boot the repair system, I can boot the update system with everything mounted correctly and a GUI that I can use to easily find the software to delete. Seems a reasonable choice. 3) After testing a new release, I apply it to all of my systems with a standardized software selection imported from a file. While this will result in the installation/update of numerous packages on the production systems, it would be possible to result in only deletes on the test systems. The intent is to have the test systems mirror the production systems so that they are reasonable test beds.
