[Bug 554862] New: OTF fonts are opened with openOffice
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=554862 Summary: OTF fonts are opened with openOffice Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: RC 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: suse-beta@cboltz.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer When I click an OTF font (for example one of the FifthLeg-Fonts from https://forgesvn1.novell.com/svn/opensuse-art/trunk/00assets/fonts/ ) Konqueror tries to open the file with KWrite (over http) or openOffice (local filesystem). This also happens with dolphin (for local files). The problem is that the *.otf extension has two meanings: a) OpenType Font b) OpenOffice Writer Template The filetype is detected correctly by "file" as "OpenType font data". Konqueror and Dolphin (better: all of KDE) should rely on the file content instead of the filename. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

--- Comment #1 from Jos Baudrez
When I click an OTF font (for example one of the FifthLeg-Fonts from https://forgesvn1.novell.com/svn/opensuse-art/trunk/00assets/fonts/ ) Konqueror tries to open the file with KWrite (over http) or openOffice (local filesystem). This also happens with dolphin (for local files).
The problem is that the *.otf extension has two meanings: a) OpenType Font b) OpenOffice Writer Template
This issue also prevents Font Installer from seeing/listing OpenType fonts in a directory, when trying to select fonts for installation. Removing the association between .otf and OpenOffice, and creating the association between .otf and OpenType fonts in "File Associations" makes the otf fonts visible in Font Installer. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
