[Bug 235094] New: VNC does not work with Guest
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235094 Summary: VNC does not work with Guest Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 5 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: jan.albrecht@bertelsmann.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Hi, I've migrated from SLES 10 to openSuSE 10.2 While I was able to view my guests under SLES10 via vnc ("vncviewer host:display" remote and local), this is not possible under openSuSE 10.2 anymore. Neither the migrated SLES 10 guests nor the new created guests can be viewed with VNC. SDL does work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=235094 ------- Comment #1 from ccoffing@novell.com 2007-01-19 16:44 MST ------- In recent Xen, they've started defaulting "vncunused=1", so it picks a port/display dynamically, with no relation to the domain ID #. I didn't realize this was the default in 10.2. Run the attached script (locally); give it the running VM's name as the argument. I expect it will open the vnc viewer ok. You can either use something like this script, or put "vncunused=0" in your config files to restore the old behavior. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I'm not sure whether a fix is needed -- the bug doesn't concern yast2-vm, but I think it would suffer the same basic problem. We could always have yast2-vm set "vncunused=0" to restore the old behavior, but the old behavior isn't quite correct. The port could collide with remote admin of dom0 on port 5901, which was the exact problem vncunused was trying to fix. Or yast2-vm would better support vncunused, in which case the "xm console" command called from yast2-vm would need to be updated. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
