[Bug 753931] New: Lenovo X201s requires "intel_iommu=igfx_off" with v3.2 and v3.3 kernel
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=753931 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=753931#c0 Summary: Lenovo X201s requires "intel_iommu=igfx_off" with v3.2 and v3.3 kernel Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: timshel@rocketmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 Kernel stalls regularly on my Thinkpad X201 with the message: [ 56.996322] DRHD: handling fault status reg 2 [ 56.996330] DMAR:[DMA Write] Request device [00:02.0] fault addr 7bf1c7000 [ 56.996332] DMAR:[fault reason 05] PTE Write access is not set This does happen since the Kernel 3.2, so openSUSE 12.1 with the default kernel is not affected. It is already upstream reported and supposed to be fixed: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44510 Nevertheless both Factory and Tumbleweed are affected with their 3.3 kernel atm. Adding "intel_iommu=igfx_off" to the kernel boot parameters does help at least with Tumbleweed. I can't test it on Factory since X seem to have some other issues there and crashes shortly after start. Without this parameter using the PC is nearly impossible. Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
