https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=478426 User foolishewe@hotmail.com added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=478426#c1 Summary: Recent Updates have Caused Flash Video to freeze, Firefox Freezes and npviewer.bin windows open Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: foolishewe@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=274456) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=274456) output of rpm -q -a User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.6) Gecko/2009012700 SUSE/3.0.6-0.1 Firefox/3.0.6 Until recently (probably about Feb 18, 2009) my Firefox/Flash install worked together, now it seems that any time I access embedded flash in a web page, once I start playing the video (e.g. left click on it to begin playing) the download appears to begin and hang. The containing firefox no longer responds to mouse clicks or key strokes (clicking on the x in the upper right corner eventually brings up a window that says firefox is not responding and asks if I should terminate it). I kill the window and then see one or more npviewer.bin windows (containing no text) that also don't respond and generate popup windows saying that they aren't responding and they terminate. I'm running: uname -a Linux linux-y6ws 2.6.25.20-0.1-default #1 SMP 2008-12-12 20:30:38 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I use KDE 3.5 for my window manager, and am attaching the output of rpm -q -a so that you can find all rpm's I have installed. My guess is that some recent update hosed it, but I'm not sure which one. Regards: Bill M. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Firefox 2.Go to any site with flash (e.g. youtube) 3.left click on an embedded flash item and watch firefox become unresponsive Actual Results: None Expected Results: Firefox becomes unresponsive. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There are some fixes to libpng, gstreamer and flashplayer available but I haven't picked them up yet. So the system is behaving better, but I still don't know what was broken and how it got fixed. Unless I can reproduce the symptom, we may wish to table this.
