[Bug 555202] New: Simultaneous (KDE) file-chooser window and context menu on Firefox locks up entire system
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=555202 Summary: Simultaneous (KDE) file-chooser window and context menu on Firefox locks up entire system Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: yuenhoe@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090803 Linux Mint/7 (Gloria) Shiretoko/3.5.2 On KDE-integrated Firefox on OpenSUSE 11.2, the KDE file chooser window has a second-or-so delay before showing up, and within that time, right clicking anywhere in Firefox to bring up a context menu could result in the context menu and the file chooser window becoming active at the same time, and this locks up the entire system in the sense that, while the system continues to operate normally, it is completely unresponsive to mouseclicks and keyboards (I'm guessing both are grabbed by the now-unresponsive context menu). The system thus becomes unusable and the only way out of the lock is to hard-reboot or to kill X (ctrl-alt-backspace). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In firefox, bring up the file chooser window (eg right-click a link and click 'save page as'). 2. Before the file chooser window opens, quickly right-click any part of the web page. Actual Results: The right-click context menu appears and then the file chooser window appears on top of it, and the system locks up in the manner described above. Neither the context menu, the file chooser, nor anything else in the system is able to respond to keypress and mouseclicks. Expected Results: File chooser window should close the context menu before appearing to avoid the conflict, or give the context menu precedence and become active only after the user finishes interacting with the context menu. This is a fresh (KDE) install with completely default settings. Also tried this out on a live setup. Both demonstrated this bug reproducibly. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not closing the bug would be a first good step ;-)
Hmm, please show me the document which describes the process when a bug should be resolved. No sarcasm, I really would appreciate if there would be an official statement but I'm not aware of any. The maintenance team already knows about the fact that there were some fixes to mozilla-xulrunner191-kde4. We are currently facing an overlap though. There is Firefox 3.5.5 which is already in the maintenance queue but for -kde4 to be updated we need more fixes to mozilla-xulrunner191. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
