[Bug 769705] New: Add a New Reason Code to PMS Systems for Closing a Bug
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769705 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=769705#c0 Summary: Add a New Reason Code to PMS Systems for Closing a Bug Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bugzilla AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: scott@aphofis.com QAContact: novbugzilla-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Customer Blocker: --- Workplaces should never ever have unreal expectations placed upon them that create destructive emotions. Passion Yes, but not destructive emotions..We deal with a Machine, and fixing it as such, is either on or off...fixable or not fixable; due the availability of human resources I think we need a New Reason code to close a bug and I think this new reason code is perfectly valid and found in many other commercial PMS Systems. I would like to suggest that a Bug can be CLOSED, FIXABLE>UNDER-RESOURCED and for openFATE DESIRABLE>UNDER-RESOURCED The closure of such a bug with this classification should only be available to the Problem Manager and Message Generation also auto-directed to the responsible Manager Dpt Whilst most of us have a vested interest in getting bugs fixed, this should never be at the cost of crossing over to a personally directed message and NEVER ever at the expense of developers who fix bugs, nor those who create them. It is a perfectly reasonable Reason Code to close a bug under the above circumstances, however the ability to use such a reason code should be restricted to the problem Manager. I see three issues/questions: a) who determines that there are no resources available for fixing a given problem? b) who is the Problem Manager? c) who is the responsible Manager Dpt? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I see three issues/questions:
a) who determines that there are no resources available for fixing a given problem? b) who is the Problem Manager? c) who is the responsible Manager Dpt?
Certainly I am unable to comment on these questions as I do not know the inner workings of responsibility of opensuse. Certainly a Problem Management System, without a Problem Manager is defeatist in its reason for being! I am trying to help all at opensuse and the project excel! I would assert that the ultimate responsible person, for the continuation of the project that provides paid contractors and paid analysts, little in number as they are; have a responsible person who allocates the physical spend and resources for the project. This reason code priority/or closed as I have suggested it typical of PMS Model that is used around the World where both are used to allocate resources. Please DO not MISUNDERSTAND ME, I am proposing a standard model that is used to demonstrate why more resources, in its stats and reasons why more paid resources could enhance the future justification for more paid assets. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
