[Bug 211292] New: no X on ThinkPad T43
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211292 Summary: no X on ThinkPad T43 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: PC OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: gholmer@ameritech.net QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Installation appears to go smoothly, but after the reboot, YaST continues in text mode, and on every subsequent boot, YaST starts in text mode again and drops back to a text prompt with no cursor when done. Trying to run sax2 gives: "7741: direct binding: impossible error - can't find 'libXext.so.6' in my scope" with similar errors for libX11.so.6, libSM.so.6, libICE.so.6, etc. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211292 ------- Comment #3 from gholmer@ameritech.net 2006-10-10 12:48 MST ------- Did another install from scratch with the same results; both times, I selected to install both KDE and GNOME, so it's certainly not a question of not having installed X. The following files reported in "impossible error" messages do exist in the filesystem: /usr/lib/libXext.so.6 /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 /usr/lib/libSM.so.6 /usr/lib/libICE.so.6 /lib/libdl.so.2 /lib/libpthread.so.0 /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211292 ------- Comment #4 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-10 13:02 MST ------- Can you watch out for "no such file or directory" messages? The "impossible error" messages are from the glibc -Bdirect patch and highly misleading; there should be one "no such file or directory" message very well hidden between them. And attach the YaST2 logfiles, please, they will be very helpful: http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST I'm quite sure that this is not a SaX/X bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
