https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=832229 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=832229#c0 Summary: No menu item for other other working OS Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.1 Milestone 3 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jon.l.cosby@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0 Duplicate of bug #799457. My partitioning is /dev/sda1 SWAP /dev/sda2 /boot /dev/sda3 extended /dev/sda5 / for Fedora /dev/sda6 /home for Fedora /dev/sda7 / for openSUSE /dev/sda8 /home for openSUSE Both installers overwrite /boot and don't produce a menu item for the other OS. YaST suggests a partitioning setup overwriting Fedora install. grub repair complains that ext2 file system is not supported in grub2, but all partitions are ext4. I'm installing milestone 3 with the most recent version of grub2. What exactly is the scope of this bug report? a) openSUSE should support shared /boot
That's not the case on my system installing 13.1 M3. YaST/openSUSE don't even recognize Fedora install. YaST even suggests partitioning overwriting Fedora. Fedora is not an option on the grub menu after installing M3.
b) grub repair omplains that ext2 file system is not supported in grub2? If the latter, please explain what "grub repair" is, I'm not aware of it.
Should be "linux repair." I added this as information on what I've tried to fix the problem. Boot to linux repair chroot to mount root partition grub-install bootpart Complains about ext2 file system and fails. fdisk confirms ext4. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
