[Bug 432554] New: KDE PIM (libkcal) creates incompatible iCalendar files
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=432554 Summary: KDE PIM (libkcal) creates incompatible iCalendar files Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE3 AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: Ulrich.Windl@rz.uni-regensburg.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- When exporting iCalendar events, the files created by KDE PIM are incompatible with GNOME Evolution (and Mozilla Sunbird): KDE uses UTC to represent the event time, but does not specify the timezone. Thus an event at 8:15 MEST is created as "DTSTART:20081006T061500Z" (which is correct when seen in an isolated view). If the event repeats, let's say weekly, this is incorrect however. When DST ends in last week of October, the local time would change to one hour earlier. In KDE however, the repeated events are all displayed at the same (local) time. But when importing the iCalendar file in Evolution, the local time changes when DST changes in October. Mozilla Sunbird interprets the iCalendar file in the same way. Here is a sample iCalendar content: BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID:-//K Desktop Environment//NONSGML libkcal 3.5//EN VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTAMP:20081002T174644Z ORGANIZER;CN=Ulrich Windl:MAILTO: CREATED:20080929T183342Z UID:libkcal-2109617909.590 LAST-MODIFIED:20080929T183342Z DESCRIPTION:Sample SUMMARY:OS LOCATION:U511 CATEGORIES:Termin RRULE:FREQ=WEEKLY;UNTIL=20090119T071500Z;BYDAY=MO EXDATE;VALUE=DATE:20081229 EXDATE;VALUE=DATE:20090105 DTSTART:20081006T061500Z DTEND:20081006T074500Z TRANSP:OPAQUE END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
