I installed yast2-kdump, enabled kdump, changed KDUMP_DUMPFORMAT="none", and added crashkernel=256MB-:128MB to my /boot/grub2/grub.cfg. rebooted, then suspend, and the problem occurred: the capslock flash light blinked, so I powered it down and rebooted. But there were no logs in /var/log/kdump! Where am I wrong? Thanks. It hangs there, I have to manually power off and restart. But there's no /var/log/dump/* there. And I also try to suspend and resume from GUI, the same thing happens. I'm using KDE as my desktop environment. And Btrfs as my /var partition format, is btrfs related? I mean, btrfs may fix itself after a power "loss", which erase the log? And it is interesting that my clock was never got right, I have to: sudo ntpdate pool.ntp.org everytime. (sometimes it drives me into emergency mode, because I write the disk in the corrent time, but the hardware clock was random days earlier, so the computer thinks I was "wrong" to mount a disk in future time. fsck works for that situation.) Thanks, Marguerite PS: A wiki question, I know you write the kdump chapter, so what does "Now attempt to reproduce your problem. Your system should reboot nearly immediately when it occurs after dropping to a text console" mean? does it mean: 1. manual switch(drop) to a text console like ctrl+alt+f1 2. reproduce the problem 3. if problem gets reproduced, the system should reboot immediately. or: 1. reproduce the problem 2. if problem gets reproduced, the system should auto switch(drop) to a text console and reboot. without human interruption. what I want to know is the user should wait and see or manually power down and restart when the problem really happened. it matters to an accurate translation... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
