[Bug 338011] New: X will not start after clean opensuse 10.3 install
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=338011 Summary: X will not start after clean opensuse 10.3 install Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: linuxjim@jjfiii.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=181330) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=181330) xorg.xonf from 10.3 after install At completion of a clean 10.3 GM KDE install, X never starts, only the command line saying runlevel 5 has been reached. All daemons seem to be working, changing from rl 5 to other runlevels works, I can remote and login to gui with VNC, but local gui does not work. Running kdm does not work. Sax2 attempts to start, says no X server is running, starting instance, but that fails saying to see sax.log. Tried Sax2 with -l -r and -sysconfig respectively but each also fails. Video driver is default as detected during install. Install done by 1DVD downloaded. Hardware is Abit NF7S V2 A, Athlon 2500+ (Barton), ATI Radeon 9000 AGP card, 1.5gb ram, pata and sata drives. Setup was stable in 9.3 and 10.2, radeon driver ran 3D in both. 10.3 install with grub works fine, just no GUI. I tried 2 other AGP cards and 1 PCI card, same issue with all. I manually edited xorg.conf to try vesa driver, but no change. I installed the ATI driver, but no change. The only way I've been able to get to local GUI is by copying over xorg.conf from my 10.2 install, this works, but is not optimal or stable, sometimes on login the bottom 1/6th of the screen is black. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

sax2 -r might now also work.
This worked. removing the logitech-mxlaser line form Input.map, and running sax2 -r only and sax2 runs and configures this card now. Many thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
