But this is really a FAQ (we should really add it to an FAQ page somewhere): Some users become really creative what partitions to use for installing packages, so it's not realistic to catch all cases. For example, symlinking common paths like /usr/share or /opt/kde3 to another file system. For NTFS and FAT / FAT32 file systems I fully agree that it doesn't make very much sense to include them; they don't support Linux permissions, hard links, or symlinks, which will make installing packges there very problematic.
