There is a known (and already fixed) bug in nilfs2 probing code, which makes parted crash on such partition. As the partition is useless anyway, you should be able to boot e.g. 11.4 in rescue mode and remove the partition. Afterward, installation of 12.1 should work fine. I'm closing the bug as there is nothing more we can do with regard to 12.1 installation media. Please feel free to reopen if it does not help or if you need further assistance.
