I also can not edit for example expiration day in kgpg due to same error, but changing passphrase works. I use newest Factory, upgraded step by step from 10.1
This is exactly the problem because this is the best way to produce bogus bug reports. The pinentry packaging has changed. By upgrading step by step from Factory (with smart, I guess?), you get only newer versions of packages that were already installed, but you'll miss new packages and package splits. Just install pinentry-qt or pinentry-gtk2 or both.
