[Bug 526623] New: MozillaFirefox-kde4-addon leaves local changes after deinstallation
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=526623 Summary: MozillaFirefox-kde4-addon leaves local changes after deinstallation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: j-engel@gmx.de ReportedBy: wolfgang@rosenauer.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Third Party Developer/Partner The plasmanotify extension disables the native firefox notifications: prefs.setBoolPref("browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete",false); This change is persistent for the user profile after it was enabled once and even stays changed after removal of the extension. This turns off native notifications w/o the user knowing about it. I consider that a blocker for shipping that addon. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I agree, we have to get around that. On the other hand that might be the possibility to distinguish between KDE and non-KDE environments.
I don't fully understand that last statement. The issue is what defines a KDE environment. I'd say not the fact that someone had installed that package once and it's also possible that different people share a computer and are running different DEs (what's actually the case on my system). So one user would like to have the addon and it causes a lot of trouble for the other one. So having that addon as a system wide extension only is possible if this issue (and also the other one I filed) is resolved somehow. I also will think about it but it would be nice if you could get in contact with the author as this issue is affecting "normal" addon users as well once they want to get rid of the extension. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
