/dev/tcp/music.arch.suse.de/5555 and kdump still works as expected as well.
We might have two problems: Above command triggering a crash which seem to not get logged through serial console (irqs disabled?) and kdump not working which throws the __ioremap when trying to build up the elf header. This echo xy >/dev/tcp/... is a weird feature. I've heard it's bash driven/interpreted and Ubuntu does not have this feature compiled in? Even on SLE11 SP1 above command triggers quite some (unnecessary?) file system activity. Every time I use it I get this logged: EXT2-fs warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended REISERFS (device sda5): found reiserfs format "3.6" with standard journal REISERFS (device sda5): using ordered data mode reiserfs: using flush barriers REISERFS (device sda5): journal params: device sda5, size 8192, journal first block 18, max trans len 1024, max batch 900, max commit age 30, max trans age 30 REISERFS (device sda5): checking transaction log (sda5) REISERFS (device sda5): Using r5 hash to sort names EXT4-fs (sda7): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode kjournald starting. Commit interval 15 seconds EXT3 FS on sda8, internal journal EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. On 11.4 even more file systems show up. Any chance we could get rid of this broken feature, if Ubuntu does not have it compiled (into bash?) there shouldn't be much important projects using it. If I find the time I try a bit with mainline kernels and try to get things bisected a bit. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
/dev/tcp/music.arch.suse.de/5555 sends a command to the orthos server which triggers another script to get executed remotely on this machine. This script tries to mount all partitions from /proc/partitions and searches for valid installations to spread a motd
