[Bug 337787] New: Error update opensuse 10.2 to 10.3
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=337787 Summary: Error update opensuse 10.2 to 10.3 Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: manfred_krupka@ish.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer The update was ok, nearly everything seemed to be ok, but after start of 10.3 I detected the following: My installation has 1 hard disk /dev/hda, /dev/hda1 = /boot, /dev/hda2 = / with LVM. YaST die not change the /dev/hda1 partition, the GRUB menue shows the same kernels as 10.2, the partition has not been changed. In /lib/modules I find the new kernel modules, but GRUB shows the old ones. So when booting I get a "FATAL ERROR", no modules can be loaded. No I cannot load the network driver modules and the DVD driver modules, I have no chance to change the system. Trying to repair the system from DVD tells me, that /dev/hda1 cannot be mounted. What can I do to keep my new system 10.3? How can I create a new /dev/hda1 partition with the right kernel information? One disturbing fact is that /dev/hda1 cannot be mounted in repair system but this can happen from a different reason. If you managed to load the system please get y2logs and attach it here.
