[Bug 497832] New: RFE: generalize makedeltaiso and applydeltaiso to allow multiple input/output ISOs
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497832 Summary: RFE: generalize makedeltaiso and applydeltaiso to allow multiple input/output ISOs Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andre@bwh.harvard.edu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032713 Fedora/3.0.8-1.fc10 Firefox/3.0.8 This was originally reported under Fedora's Bugzilla at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497205 since my regular OS is Fedora, although I have several OSes including openSUSE 11.1 running in VirtualBox. I decided to also report it here after seeing that the existing C code for {make, apply}deltaiso was written by Michael Schroeder at SUSE. I'm hoping this will be fairly easy to implement. Basically, in order to allow for the case where a distro spans multiple ISOs (which openSUSE presumably will soon reach, since the 64-bit openSUSE DVD ISO is already almost at the limit for a single-layer DVD) it would be very useful if {make, apply}deltaiso could allow multiple input/output ISOs. This would allow it to work efficiently even when the packages are laid out differently on the inputs and output ISOs. I suggest that the "oldiso" and "newiso" arguments be replaced by comma-separated lists of ISO files, without spaces. For example, if there are 2 input and 3 output ISOs, the syntax for {make.apply}deltaiso would be makedeltaiso oldiso1,oldiso2 newiso1,newiso2,newiso3 deltaiso and applydeltaiso oldiso1,oldiso2 deltaiso newiso1,newiso2,newiso3 respectively. The deltaiso would continue to be a single file. Reproducible: Always This is my first bugzilla.novell.com bug report. Please make any necessary changes if I screwed up.
