[Bug 231964] New: Yast refreshes disabled installation sources
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231964 Summary: Yast refreshes disabled installation sources Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: volker3204@paradise.net.nz QAContact: jsrain@novell.com When starting Yast->Software->Installation Source, a source of ftp://somewhere/ is contacted, although this source is set to "disabled" and "no refresh". If the network to this source is not available, a lengthy wait results, plur error message to skip, and I don't want to be asked whether to "remove this source immediately" when I have already disabled this source. If I had wanted to remove it, I would have done so, but I want to keep sources disabled in yast for when I actually want to use them again next, instead of having to re-enter them again from scratch (and waiting for tens of MB to download). When an installation source is disabled, Yast should make no attempt to connect to it. This should happen when enabling it, or when finishing. Any problems there can stop the "finish" and keep the yast-module running. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231964 ------- Comment #1 from volker3204@paradise.net.nz 2007-01-04 15:59 MST ------- When then starting Yast->Software->Installation Source, Yast refreshes the disabled and "no-refresh" source - more error messages and timeouts. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231964 ------- Comment #2 from volker3204@paradise.net.nz 2007-01-04 16:15 MST ------- Ok, turns out on examining /var/lib/zypp/db/sources/* that the ftp source in question is set to "enable" and "refresh". Yast then fails to display this source in the list of "Configured Software Catalogs" in Software->Installation Sources, so it can't be disabled in Yast at all, causing a perpetual problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231964 ------- Comment #3 from volker3204@paradise.net.nz 2007-01-04 17:05 MST ------- zypper sl lists the installaton source correctly (when Yast doesn't). There isn't a way to disable/norefresh installation sources with zypper, so the only way (other than to throw the whole source away and start again) is to edit the flags in the correspoonding /var/lib/zypp/db/sources/* file, which works nicely. It shows up in Yast->Software->Installation Sources then again too. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
