[Bug 278615] New: provide MiktexPackageManager for TeXlive
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=278615 Summary: provide MiktexPackageManager for TeXlive Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: danielstefanmader@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de I have just tried the new LaTeX distribution TeXlive and had to find that many many standard packages are not installed by default (eg. fancyheadings). Since this limits the usability of the LaTeX-system provided by openSUSE 10.3 it would be very very very nice to add a LaTeX-package management tool to the distribution that allows for easy addition of packages (at least via CLI). The MiktexPackageManagement mpm has a high reputation for that task but is difficult to install manually. A pre-compiled binary version would be a perfect solution! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

For a replacment of the oldish fancyheadings style you may use better the modern fancyhdr style. Before using this one please refere /usr/share/texmf/doc/latex/fancyhdr/README for more details. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=278615 ------- Comment #2 from danielstefanmader@web.de 2007-05-29 05:34 MST ------- Hello, I know it is not part of it. What I was asking was to offer mpm as an additional binary package in order to provide a package management system for the supplied LaTeX distribution, i.e. to enhance it. It is a HUGE advantage of the Miktex distribution for Windows over the *nix versions that it features easy automatic (and manual) package installation. And honestly: fancyheadings might be outdated but it is still extremely widespread and will very likely remain so. And since this holds for many other packages, too, it would be a great software feature to be able to adapt the amount of installed LaTeX software in a comfortable way. In case you are not familiar with it please have a look at the features of Miktex. http://www.miktex.org/unx/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/miktex/ Thank you very much for your efforts, Daniel -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
