[Bug 219183] New: kwalletmanager forgets already stored knetworkmanager keys
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219183 Summary: kwalletmanager forgets already stored knetworkmanager keys Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Beta 1 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: danielstefanmader@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de It seems that KWM can only store one WEP or WPA key at a time. Currently I am having no success on adding a WPA key. It appears in the wallet after entering it but is gone after reboot. This bug might be connected to bug #217316 since KNM does not open the wallet right after login (but it wouldnt find the proper key anyway since it was forgotten by KWM). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219183 ------- Comment #1 from hugo.costelha@gmail.com 2006-11-25 09:26 MST ------- Weel, my case is not exactly the same, but it's not far off. Sometimes knetworkmanager asks for password, although most of the times it does not. The last time it asked me for the password again, I checked in kwalletmanager (which was opened because knetworkmanager requested to access it), and the password was still there. In fact, it tryed to connect to my wireless, since it just asked me for the password, it had the rest already well selected. One thing I noted, is that after I put the pass again, it connected, but my network was removed from the "Fallback" list to the "No Fallback" list. Any idea why this happens sometimes? It is very annoying, has I do not no the pass by head. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219183 ------- Comment #3 from danielstefanmader@web.de 2006-11-26 15:03 MST ------- Sorry, can't provide the required info, have reverted to 10.1 for productivity reasons (needed my laptop). But comment #1 does indeed seem to touch the issue a lot. BTW: I could not reproduce the bug with Beta2 but I had no second WPA secured networked at hand then! You might want to try this with two different wireless networks and a reboot in between. It forgot the second key, not the first one! Maybe the behavior is gone due to some recent changes DBUS or so? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219183 ------- Comment #4 from hugo.costelha@gmail.com 2006-11-26 16:41 MST ------- Well, in my case I hope to provide the log, but my girlfriend needed the computer the all day, and for production we user SUSE Linux 10.1 which is installed in another disk, but on the same computer. I hope tommorrow I will use the computer, boot openSUSE 10.2 RC1 and wait until it fails. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219183 ------- Comment #8 from hugo.costelha@gmail.com 2006-11-29 14:10 MST ------- Created an attachment (id=107498) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=107498&action=view) NetworkManager log I cleaned the log before booting, but it still has a lot of stuff. The pass was requested at 21:01 (line 21:01:44 of the log, I think). At that time it poped a window with all the settings correctly selected, but with no password. I then waited a few minutes before inserting the same old pass. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219183 thoenig@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|REOPENED |RESOLVED Resolution| |WORKSFORME ------- Comment #9 from thoenig@novell.com 2006-11-30 02:12 MST ------- Hugo, the association with your AP failed: Nov 29 21:01:44 pinguim NetworkManager: <info> Activation (ath0/wireless): disconnected during association, asking for new key. NetworkManager assumes that the current key is invalid and asks KNetworkManager for a *new* key. Thus, you get prompted to enter a new key. This is not a KNetworkManager bug (and also, it is not a NetworkManager bug). It is either an issue of your wireless card driver and/or AP. I'm closing this again. By the way, this sounds very different from the initial bug report. Daniel, if you still encounter problems as described in the initial bug report please reopen! Closing as WORKSFORME. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I had no opportunity to check but now I have access to three secured WLAN accesspoints, two WEP and one WPA. I cleaned up my user profile completely and restarted with a new user, in order to make sure there is no configuration error. The first entered password (WEP) remains in kwalletmanager perfectly, but any additional password is forgot again. After entering it, knetworkmanager requests kwalletmanager and stores the password there, but after a new login or reboot everything is gone but the first password. Please tell me what you need in order to track down this bug! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=219183 ------- Comment #12 from danielstefanmader@web.de 2007-01-24 05:18 MST ------- Additional comment: the behavior is not only to be found with knetworkmanager! I experienced the same with kopete, too. Its 5th password has repeatedly been forgotten again after a logout. It was also not possible to delete the entries from the wallet with the walletmanager! Thus I logged out and deleted .kde/share/apps/kwallet/, kde/share/config/knetworkmanagerrc and .kde/share/config/kwalletrc in order to make it work again. Currently I have only one WPA-secured WLAN at hands and this works so far. But something is odd here, but I would suggest that it is more likely a wallet issue, not a networkmanager issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
