[Bug 428194] New: No 3D acceleration on M2A-VM (690G Chipset) using radeonhd
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=428194 Summary: No 3D acceleration on M2A-VM (690G Chipset) using radeonhd Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 1 Platform: x86 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: info@tristanhoffmann.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- I just installed openSUSE 11.1 Beta1 on my M2A-VM based PC. Unfortunately the 3D acceleration doesn't work by default though radeonhd is used. I have 3D acceleration with this board on 11.0 (radeonhd and dri compilled from git), so it should really be working out of the box with 11.1. I noticed the missing acceleration, because I tried to enable compositing effects for KDE4. Glxgears only works with ~150 Fps. It's also not possible to manually enable 3D with sax2. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

On my openSUSE 11.0 system I now use the radeon driver and everything works smoothly. What about the xorg.0.log. It repeats the modelines over and over. Is this normal or a bug?
I'm not sure if I understand what you are referring to but it could be the issue that's discussed in #427645 already. My problem is not the ddc scan, but I wonder why 3D acceleration isn't enabled by default. I don't really care, because I can set up the radeon driver, which works perfectly for me, manually. I just think people who aren't able to
That's exactly the point: for you. The R5xx 3D implementation is known to still have issues, it's just too new. You don't need to install the radeon driver, just add Option "DRI" to the device section. The default will be changed as soon as support is found to be more stable. The manual page's entry is a bit stale, 2D and 3D should work together in radeonhd as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
