[Bug 259719] New: Gnome Nautilus crashes when asking for the Properties of a Symbolic Link
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=259719 Summary: Gnome Nautilus crashes when asking for the Properties of a Symbolic Link Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: HANtwister@comcast.net QAContact: qa@suse.de When attempting to open the Properties of a Symbolic Link in Gnome Nautilus 2.16.1, either through the Context Menu or the File Menu, Nautilus crashes and Bug Buddy appears. This occurs with both normal users and the root user. I apologize if this bug was already submitted to Gnome's Bugzilla, but their site is currently down (and Bug Buddy is unable to send bug reports at this time). Bug Buddy's Trace Information (NOTE: All the debuginfo packages related to Gnome are installed, with the exception of those that weren't updated along with their program counterparts and would have caused dependency errors): Distribution: openSUSE 10.2 (i586) Gnome Release: 2.16.1 2006-11-28 (SUSE) BugBuddy Version: 2.16.0 Memory status: size: 159264768 vsize: 0 resident: 159264768 share: 0 rss: 8937472 rss_rlim: 0 CPU usage: start_time: 1175459259 rtime: 0 utime: 661 stime: 0 cutime:622 cstime: 0 timeout: 39 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 5 Backtrace was generated from '/opt/gnome/bin/nautilus' Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". I'm not able to reproduce it. I created a symbolic link to a file in my home, but I can properly look at its properties using nautilus. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=259719 ------- Comment #2 from HANtwister@comcast.net 2007-04-02 06:09 MST ------- I looked into it further and this happens when I try to open the properties of any file, folder or link, unless it's on the Desktop. I'm still setting up this machine, and recall this not happening on Saturday, so I've been trying to go through what I've been installing; I'll post the name of the package(s) if I find the offending one(s). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=259719 ------- Comment #3 from alberto.passalacqua@tin.it 2007-04-02 06:16 MST ------- Did you add other repositories than the official OSS and non-OSS ones? If yes, what repositories? https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=259719 ------- Comment #4 from HANtwister@comcast.net 2007-04-02 06:34 MST ------- I had somehow managed to install the nautilus-eiciel package without installing the eiciel package, which was causing the problem. In YaST Software Management, it shows that it is NOT necessary to install the eiciel package to install nautilus-eiciel, which, from what I've experienced, shouldn't be the case. Since the root of this problem appears to be with those details in YaST, I'm going to try and change the bug report properties to reflect that.
