Script for toggling wifi from command line
Sorry for the delay, my day job interfered ;-)
Followed your advice and created the attached script (now in /usr/local/bin)
and created an xfce keyboard application shortcut (settings -> keyboard ->
application shortcuts) for XF86WWW (Fn+PrintScreen).
Now the keys toggle wifi through Networkmanager.
Do you know if there's a difference in power consumption by the wifi device
when hard/soft disabled? My main goal was to save battery power by switching
off wifi when I don't need it.
I'm hoping to find time soon to investigate which of the Dell .debs enables
support for wifi switching on Ubuntu. I've asked on a Dell support forum but
they're not very responsive.
