It fixes ivman, but Nautilus is still failing. :-( And it wouldn't make too much sense anyway (The device needs to be umounted first and then ejected, but in this bug already the umount fails). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Unfortunately I have to doubt that this is a duplicate of bug 214820.
I have simulated that bug 214820 were fixed by symlinking /bin/eject back to /usr/bin/eject, so that hal can find it again.
It fixes ivman, but Nautilus is still failing. :-(
I did the same (ln -s /bin/eject /usr/bin/eject) and now everything works fine with Nautilus. It is actually gnome-volume-manager which is calling asking HAL to eject the volume.
And it wouldn't make too much sense anyway (The device needs to be umounted first and then ejected, but in this bug already the umount fails).
This is being handled by HAL. If the method Unmount() is called for a volume, HAL first unmounts the volume. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

If the method Unmount() is called for a volume, HAL first unmounts the volume.
This should read: If the method Eject() is called for a volume, HAL first unmounts the volume. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=215392 ------- Comment #10 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-30 10:05 MST ------- I have the removed the compatibility symlink again and instead rebuilt hal with your patch from bug 214820 (attachment 103046). Result: It fixes ivman, but not Nautilus/gnome-volume-manager/whatever. :-( There must be an unrelated problem here in addition to the eject path. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=215392 ------- Comment #15 from federico@ximian.com 2006-11-09 11:34 MST ------- OK, this happens because we don't use gnome-mount. Gnome-VFS prefers that. We are also not specifying {--with-hal-mount,--with-hal-umount,--with-hal-eject} to gnome-vfs2's configure script. So, gnome-vfs2 falls back to /bin/umount for unmounting and to 'eject' in the $PATH. Umount(8) of course doesn't like being called as non-root, especially when the volume to be unmounted is not in /etc/fstab - this of course happens because HAL mounted the volume at a random place in /media. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
