[Bug 905095] New: JACK can't set realtime priority
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=905095 Bug ID: 905095 Summary: JACK can't set realtime priority Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound Assignee: tiwai@suse.com Reporter: lotsmanov89@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I'm a member of the group "audio": ``` $ LANG=en id uid=1010(unclechu) gid=1010(unclechu) groups=1010(unclechu),17(audio),20(cdrom),33(video),40(games),100(users),487(pulse),1000(udisks),1011(kerndbg),1012(backlight) ``` And here limits.conf: ``` $ cat /etc/security/limits.conf | sed -e 's/#.*$//g' | grep -v '^$' @audio - memlock unlimited @audio - rtprio 99 @audio - nice -20 @pulse - rtprio 9 @pulse - nice -11 ``` But when I start `jackd` I have this in output: ``` ... JACK server starting in realtime mode with priority 10 self-connect-mode is "Don't restrict self connect requests" audio_reservation_init Acquire audio card Audio0 creating alsa driver ... hw:USB|hw:USB|512|3|48000|0|0|nomon|swmeter|-|32bit configuring for 48000Hz, period = 512 frames (10.7 ms), buffer = 3 periods ALSA: final selected sample format for capture: 24bit little-endian ALSA: use 3 periods for capture ALSA: final selected sample format for playback: 24bit little-endian ALSA: use 3 periods for playback Cannot use real-time scheduling (RR/10)(1: Operation not permitted) AcquireSelfRealTime error ``` Why it happens? In 13.1 it works fine, but on 13.2 I have this issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Looks rather like an issue in more deeper level than JACK.
I tried my old kernel that was built on 13.1, and under non-root user JACK still can't get RT priority. It means that isn't kernel issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
