[Bug 625414] New: 91-killiscsi.sh in initrd causes disconnect with iscsi Root partition (diskless); Boot Halts
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625414 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625414#c0 Summary: 91-killiscsi.sh in initrd causes disconnect with iscsi Root partition (diskless); Boot Halts Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: brammuffin-2way@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; OfficeLiveConnector.1.5; OfficeLivePatch.1.3; .NET4.0C; InfoPath.3) The 91-killiscsi.sh script in the initrd image causes the iscsi client to die and the connection the root partition is lost. The boot can not continue and later steps in the boot process crash with "Cannot execute <filename>" messages. This is due to the missing root filesystem (which is lost after the ISCSI connection is killed). I removed the 91-killiscsi.sh script from my init image and the system was able to boot perfectly (to finish installation and after installation has completed). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install OpenSuse 11.3 is a diskless fashion using an ISCSI disk. 2. SANBoot the installation using gPXE. 3. Wait for the crash to happen. Actual Results: Since the root partition can not be mounted the boot log can not be written in /var/log. However, below is an attempt to describe the output. Each attempt and executing runlevel scripts or executables results in the respons: Cannot execute <filename>. The last message in the line, before the boot hangs is pages of errors of "Cannot execute '/sbin/mingetty'" and errors that mingetty is respawning too quickly. Expected Results: The ISCSI root partition needs to stay available and mounted so that the boot process can read from it and continue with boot. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
