[Bug 419903] New: Difficult to install KDE 4.1, patterns problem?
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=419903 Summary: Difficult to install KDE 4.1, patterns problem? Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: cmorve69@yahoo.es QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I tried to understand better the problem at http://lists.opensuse.org/zypp-devel/2008-07/msg00033.html, but I got no answer. The thing is I do *not* have KDE4 installed (KDE 4.0.4, from the main repo). but now that KDE 4.1 has been released I want to try it from the Build Service. "zypper -v up -t package" isn't an option since it would update the parts of KDE4 I have already installed, but since I don't have a full KDE4 desktop some parts would be missing. "zypper -v in -t pattern kde4" tries to install KDE 4.0.4. I could first use "zypper -v in -t pattern kde4" and then "zypper -v up -t package" to have a full KDE 4.1 system, but should be a way to install directly a pattern with KDE 4.1. Something like "zypper -v in -t pattern kde4 > 4.0.4". The thing is in the file "patterns.xml.gz" from KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop OBS repository there are listed patterns named "KDE 4.1 Basis" and "KDE 4 Default", but I do not see a way to access them from zypper. I missunderstood something, there exists a secret zypper command or there is a bug? When trying to compare it with the official repo I see that http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0/repo/oss/suse/repodata/ (rpm-md metadata) doesn't have a patterns.xml.gz file, even when in http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0/repo/oss/suse/setup/descr/ (yast2 metadata) there are pattern related files. PD. I don't know if 1-Click install files would work. The .ymp file itself just has the name of the packages, not their versions. And when trying to use it the version isn't specified at any moment neither. I don't want to click on "accept" without knowing exactly what will be installed... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
