[Bug 412900] New: better URL for CPAN packages
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=412900 User peter_e@gmx.net added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=412900#c10 Summary: better URL for CPAN packages Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation AssignedTo: fs@novell.com ReportedBy: peter_e@gmx.net QAContact: adrian@novell.com Found By: Third Party Developer/Partner This really applies to packages in all SUSE distributions, but I have to start somewhere. The SUSE Package Conventions at http://en.opensuse.org/SUSE_Package_Conventions/Specific_Packages#10.3._Perl... document the recommended URL field for a CPAN package as URL: http://cpan.org/modules/by-module/Inline for the example package Inline::CPR. I don't think this is a good solution. The URL is a download location, which can be used in the Source field, but the URL field should be a web site where I can learn about the package. The URL http://search.cpan.org/dist/Inline-CPR/ which applies analogously to all CPAN packages, is much more appropriate in my view. Please consider updating the package guidelines and making that change in the various SUSE RPM packages. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
