It is disabled by default in /usr/lib/rpm/macros, namely the line stating "%_use_internal_dependency_generator 0". Changing that 0 to a 1 seems to fix the problem. The change from the upstream default is made in the "macrosin" patch. Is there any particular reason why rpm's dependency generator was disabled? It checks the output from libmagic, and the appropriate dependency calculation script that is called by rpmbuild(8). instead of /usr/lib/rpm/find-{requires,provides}. Here's the patch for RPM. I based it off of the call to the mono dependency generator. Some comments: The ocaml dep scripts take arguments. The only effective way I found to use them as they are necessary in some circumstances, is to set them by redefining %__find_<whatever> and passing in the variables using env(1). The file list calculations may be unnecessary, as the provided scripts appear to do the "listing" themselves. In addition, the get the appropriate provides for ocaml itself, the ocaml build needs to be modified: It needs to build-depend on binutils-devel, ocamlobjinfo needs to be compiled natively (to prevent path issues related to the interpreter), and the ocamlobjinfo path needs to be set to the one within the package. These modifications (and some more) are implemented in home:NaCl:ocaml/ocaml.
