There is no gcc5 here ... on one system I have
gcc gcc-32bit gcc-c++ gcc-c++-32bit gcc-info gcc48 gcc48-32bit gcc48-c++ gcc48-info libgcc_s1 libgcc_s1-32bit libgcj_bc1-gcc48
This one should update fine I think?
and on an other due ignoring the error message
gcc gcc-c++ gcc-info gcc48 gcc48-c++ gcc48-info gccmakedep libatomic1-gcc6 libgcc_s1-gcc6 libgcc_s1-gcc6-32bit libgcj-gcc6 libgcj-jar-gcc6 libgcj_bc1-gcc48 libgcj_bc1-gcc6
^^^ so that's of course broken... GIGO.
libgfortran3-gcc6 libgomp1-gcc6 libitm1-gcc6 libquadmath0-gcc6 libstdc++6-gcc6 libstdc++6-gcc6-32bit libtsan0-gcc6

let me guess, libgcj48 needs to be updated too to pick up the %product_libs_gcc_ver_libgcj_bc1 macro
Sure. And then people will still see the conflict resolution on update as we have libgcj_bc1-gcc48 installed and libgcj_bc1 and libgcj_bc1-gcc[56](?) as update candidates. Avoiding that needs to mess with gcc itself providing obsoletes/provides (not sth I would suggest). So admit failure and accept the conflict dialogue. There's a gcc48 update for SLE12 pending (not yet submitted). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hmmm ... the error message is from first case and I've found it within cron mail messages
SO the state you quoted was after the update? What was the state before? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
